When Tom Brady won his appeal, reversing his 4-game suspension, Roger Goodell vowed to appeal that ruling. The commish followed through with that proclamation, but it will not be heard until February 2016 at the earliest. So that pretty much guarantees Brady will be on the field for New England all season long.
The matter is now in the hands of a federal appeals court, which approved the request of both the NFL and the NFL Players’ Association for an expedited ruling. “Expedited,” in this instance, means no earlier than Feb. 1, 2016. The NFL’s postseason begins Jan. 9, 2016, and the Super Bowl will be on Feb. 7 in Santa Clara, Calif.
