A few weeks ago, Redskins coach Jay Gruden announced Robert Griffin III would be the starting quarterback for next season. On its face, the announcement itself isn’t too surprising, but the timing of it is odd.
Fast forward to today and we learn that brand new Washington GM Scott McCloughan will be attending Oregon’s Pro Day, along with other GMs, to see Marcus Mariota throw.
It was reported yesterday that the Redskins have their eye on Mariota, so this would be the next logical step. So what happened to Griffin being the starter?
Washington picks fifth and if Tennessee passes on Marcus at #2, then he may fall to #5. Whether or not this comes to fruition, the damage has probably already been done between Griffin and Redskins brass.
