For most with aspirations of playing in the NFL, you’d think hearing your name called on draft night and shaking the commissioner’s hand would be something you’ve always looked forward to. Especially if you’re the projected #1 overall pick.
Well, apparently, that’s not the case for Jameis Winston, who will reportedly not attend this year’s draft in Chicago. Winston is widely regarding as the potential top pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a little over a month from now.
According to Winston’s father Antonor, the decision is not “set in stone,” but Jameis is leaning towards being with friend and family during the draft in order to experience the moment that way. This, of course, is not uncommon. It will be interesting to see if his plans change as we get closer.
