Joel Embiid Out 5-8 Months Following Foot Surgery

If you believe the reports, the only reason Joel Embiid slipped to number 3 is because of his broken foot. Some say he would’ve been taken after Wiggins and Parker regardless and some feel otherwise. But it is what it is at this point.

For somebody that size, a leg/foot injury is very scary. Typically, guys bounce back from stress fractures in a few months, but since Joel had two screws inserted, his timetable is long. Embiid is out 5-8 months according to the doctor who performed the surgery, via CSN Philly.

If the Sixers were willing to sit Nerlens Noel for an entire year due to his ACL recovery, there’s no reason to believe they won’t do the same with Embiid. It doesn’t seem likely or logical that he’ll play this upcoming season.
