He’s barely two months on the job and NBA commissioner Adam Silver was faced with one of the biggest decisions that the league has ever seen. He has an owner that seems to repeatedly discriminate against the very people that he employs, if that makes any sense.
The NBA and Silver held a press conference Tuesday afternoon, where Silver has announed that Donald Sterling has been banned for life from the NBA and will be fined $2.5 million (the maximum amount he could be fined). The remaining owners will need to reach a 3/4 vote in order to remove Sterling from his post as owner. That’s likely to happen, but still makes some of this uncertain.
This is unprecedented, warranted and the biggest move we’ve seen a commissioner make quite possibly ever.
