Now that the NFL season is over and only one team can really be happy with the outcome of the season, all the other teams must do an analysis about how they can improve in order to chase the Super Bowl next season. Let’s break down five teams and their action plans.
The season for Chicago finished as a disappointing one as the team didn’t manage to classify for the playoffs when it had a lot of opportunities. The key movement for them is to improve the offensive line so they can give Jay Cutler more opportunities to stay healthy. They should start taking care of this aspect of their game, as they can’t allow yet another season with many injuries for their star player. Another important movement the team should consider performing is to renew their defensive line, as the group of players they possess is a veteran, aging one.
Cincinnati recorded another successful regular season but they, once again, were not able to win a single playoff game. Andy Dalton is the one player that needs to improve his game and also his mental toughness in big stages, as he has not been able to record a single good performance in playoffs. But maybe the position the team needs to take care of the most is defensive end, as Michael Johnson is a free agent and it seems that he won’t be back with the team.
Cleveland is a team with a lot of talent and good players. So, why can’t they have a single successful season? Well, the answer is very simple. In the last six seasons they have started 11 different players at the quarterback position. When a team wants success, it needs to have some stability in the most important position of the entire team and this is a thing that the Browns have failed to do year in and year out. They also should sign or draft a good running back, as they were one of the worst ground offensives on the entire league.
Dallas has one of the best rosters position by position but this is a team that has missed the playoffs the last four seasons. Maybe one position they could improve is defensive end as they have shown interest in Anthony Spencer. They have made changes in the coaching staff with new offensive and defensive coordinators onboard, but they still have Jason Garret as their head coach. Tony Romo must find his way to become the elite quarterback everyone is expecting him to be.
If Denver had won the Super Bowl everything would have been very different. Instead, there are a lot of questions to answer now, as the best offense in the history of the NFL managed to score only eight points in the championship game. The first thing they need to do is to handle well their free agents, as they all played very important roles in the team last year. Eric Decker, Shaun Phillips and Knowshon Moreno won’t be easy to replace if they decide to leave.
