J.R. Smith Surprised at Benching vs. Heat, Unsure About Future With Knicks

As result of J.R. Smith’s untying-opponents-sneakers frenzy and subsequent $50,000 fine as result, Knicks coach Mike Woodson was left with no choice but to bench Smith in a big game: a nationally televised home game vs. the Heat. The TNT cameras panned to J.R. several times during the game and he was visibly upset.

Rachel Nichols even asked Woodson during the game about Smith’s benching, to which he replied, “no comment.” Very telling.

As you can imagine, the media couldn’t wait to ask J.R. about his benching after the game and he doesn’t sound too confident in his future, according to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News:
