Video: Braves’ Jason Heyward Hit in Face by 90 MPH Fastball

Apparently, the only thing that can stop the Atlanta Braves (a team that has more or less flown under the radar this season, despite holding a 15.5 game lead in their division) is having one of their star players get hit in the face with a pitch.

That was the unfortunate fate of Jason Heyward today vs. the Mets and Jonathan Niese’s 90 MPH fastball.

Judging by the amount of blood Heyward was spitting out, he probably lost a few teeth and suffered a broken jaw. He’ll be out 4-6 weeks.

However, all things considered, it could’ve been worse. (Easy for me to say. I’m sitting down typing on a computer right now).
