Matt Kemp Thinks Ryan Bruan’s 2011 NL MVP Should Be Taken Away

Even before Ryan Braun’s name was linked to PEDs following his MVP 2011 season, many thought that honor should’ve gone to runner-up, Matt Kemp. The numbers favored Kemp slightly, but Braun’s team was better than Kemp’s which proved to be the deciding factor.

In light of Braun’s latest ordeal with PEDs, which has earned him a suspension, Matt Kemp feels as if Braun should be stripped of that title, according to ESPN.

Asked Tuesday whether the award should be taken away from Braun, Kemp responded: “I mean, yeah, I do,” pausing and adding, “I feel like it should be, but that’s not for me to decide, you know?”

Kemp said people feel “betrayed” by Braun.

“I’m disappointed,” Kemp said. “I talked to Braun before any of this happened, we had conversations and I considered him a friend. I don’t think anybody likes to be lied to and I feel like a lot of people have felt betrayed. That’s not just me, that’s the whole Brewers organization, a lot of his teammates. I think a lot of people feel that way.”

It’s refreshing that Kemp is being honest and isn’t trying to be politically correct, but it will never happen. And if it does, I don’t think it necessarily will go to Kemp. It would probably just remain vacant.
