You certainly can’t knock Jay-Z’s relentlessness. Or, his hustle either.
Roc Nation Sports only has a handful of athletes, but the list isn’t anything to sneeze at, as Jay is being very selective.
According to Yahoo!, Roc Nation Sports’ next target is the Dodgers’ Yasiel Puig, who has completely taken over baseball since being called up a several weeks ago. Puig is already a star, but has super-stardom written all over him and was named National League player of the month – in his first month in the bigs. Jay is also reportedly after Oakland’s Yoenis Cespedes, as he apparently is looking to load up on young Cuban talent.
Jay, a licensed MLB agent, and Puig have reportedly already been in contact.
It’s worth noting that if Puig decides to leave current agent Jaime Torres for Roc Nation, Torres would receive the full commission on the seven-year, $42 million deal signed in June 2012. But it’s the off-the-field marketing where Puig, who doesn’t speak English, could benefit from. However, given their foreign roots, who knows if Puig and Cespedes even care that much about Jay-Z. But the same can be said for Robinson Cano, too I guess, so never mind.
After signing Robinson Cano, I thought Jay’s next baseball move would’ve been Atlanta’s Upton brothers, but I’m sure there’s plenty of time for that.
To be continued.
