Zack Greinke Breaks Collarbone in Dodgers vs. Padres Scrum [Video]

We’ve had our first brawl of the year, so the baseball season is officially here.

Last night, the Dodgers and Padres got into it when Zack Greinke plunked Carlos Quentin on a 3-2 pitch, 1-run game in the 6th inning. Based on that game reset alone, it’s pretty obvious that Greinke wasn’t in any position to purposely hit Quentin. Not to mention the fact that Quentin didn’t make that great of an attempt to get out of the way.

Quentin charged the mound and the melee resulted in a broken left collarbone for Zack Greinke who will be out for several months.

I never understood charging the mound. By the time the batter gets to the pitcher, he’s outnumbered 6-to-1 once all of the infielders get to the mound.
