Colin Kaepernick to Start For 49ers

Give 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh all of the credit in the world. He is making the bold move of benching his healthy starting QB in favor of his backup who had one stellar performance in replacement. After Kaepernick’s great performance on Monday night vs. the Bears, Harbaugh was noncommittal as to who his QB would be for the remaining weeks, and he even fueled the QB controversy.

But that now appears to be Colin Kaepernick, not Alex Smith, who will start at QB this week. Let’s just hope this doesn’t backfire on Harbaugh.

And for the record, Smith is officially listed as questionable. But come on, he’s healthy enough to play. This isn’t a situation where the backup is still playing because the starter isn’t healthy.

Colin Kaepernick’s second career start will come in the Superdome on Sunday. All he has to do is out-gun Drew Brees to get a victory.’s Albert Breer confirms that Kaepernick will start for the San Francisco 49ers  against the New Orleans Saints, per a source with knowledge of the situation

  1. No sense risking going into the playoffs with only a rookie QB.
