Even though he receives criticism from many because of his endless “sources”, I don’t mind ESPN NBA analyst, Chris Broussard. Maybe it’s because I met him a few years ago and he was very cool. On the other hand, I wasn’t too fond of what his colleague Jon Barry brought to the NBA studio show. Far too often, Barry tried too hard to be funny and took away from whatever he was saying.
ESPN has decided to replace Broussard and Barry on the NBA studio show and replace them with recently fired Orlando Magic coach, Stan Van Gundy and Bill Simmons.
Let me take them one at at time.
Stan Van Gundy is a solid NBA coach, I believe. But I don’t think he’d be in this position if his last name was Smith. Yes, I think nepotism played a role here with his brother Jeff.
As far as Simmons is concerned, I have never understood to hype with him. I won’t call him overrated, but I’ll just say there is way too much fuss being made about Bill Simmons. I’m not sure how this is going to go because like Barry, Simmons tries too hard to be funny as well.
