Time heals all. Eventually people will get over themselves and realize that even though LeBron James decided to play basketball in Miami, he’s obviously still very much involved in what goes on in his hometown of Akron.
“Boos” filled the Akron Aeros stadium as Mayor, Don Plusquellic paid tribute to the now gold medalists and NBA champion, LeBron James.
The NBA MVP returned to his hometown to receive the special award and celebrate his foundation’s first anniversary of the “Wheels for Education” program, which serves to provide third graders with the support and mentors they need to succeed.
Despite the “booing,” James said Sunday was about the kids.
“That’s what I’m mainly here for and that’s why I’m excited to be here. You know, our future right here [gesturing towards the kids] they’re gonna make sure that not only Akron but our world be a better place as well.”
