John Salley Basically Calls Isiah Thomas a Better Player than Jordan

Look, I consider Michael Jordan the greatest player ever, but I don’t think any conversation where he is not considered to be the greatest a useless one. I think it can be up for a healthy debate.

Yesterday, Jim Boeheim praised LeBron at MJ’s expense and John Salley took it a step further today.

On Colin Cowherd’s radio show today, Salley said the following.

“I love Michael. I’m a Michael Jordan fan, like everyone else. I just don’t think he’s the greatest player ever. I think the greatest player I ever played against was Magic Johnson. Next was Larry Bird. Then Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The hardest guy I ever had to guard? Hakeem Olajuwon. …. The greatest player I ever played with? I played with Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen …. Isiah Thomas is the greatest player I’ve ever played with.”

That’s his opinion, so it’s hard to call him crazy. Especially since he played with those guys. But he basically said Isiah Thomas was a better player than Mike and ranks MJ outside of his top 5. That’s what the man said. But remember, Salley was a part of the bad boy Piston’s, with Isiah at his absolute prime.
