I always find it commendable when athletes, that left school early, go back and finish their degree. But how about a hall of famer? I’ve never heard this one before.
Apparently Isiah Thomas is taking classes at UC Berkeley to finish up his Master’s Degree. Put you Zeke bias aside for a second, because this is commendable. He certainly isn’t doing this to find a job because he needs money.
Yes, the NBA Hall of Famer is in Berkeley — just don’t expect the 51-year-old to be lacing up the high tops for Mike Montgomery and the Golden Bears this winter.
Thomas is enrolled in graduate school, about 10 units shy of completing his masters degree in Cal’s school of education.
“He’s been here for a while,” said Mohamed Muqtar, who who works in the students services office for Cal athletics and had lunch Wednesday with Thomas and Counting Crows front man Adam Duritz, a long-time Cal booster. “He’s very sharp. I really like him a lot. He’s got a lot of good ideas.”
