Joe Johnson Traded to the Brooklyn Nets

Many feel that Joe Johnson “stole” $100m+ from the Atlanta Hawks. Well, if he stole it, the Hawks left the safe open for him.

Either way, it appears as if Johnson is headed to the Brooklyn Nets. There are conflicting reports swirling around. Some say that the deal is contingent upon Deron remaining with the Nets, and some reports say that is irrelevant. At this point, proceed with caution with what to believe. But it’s amazing that the Nets didn’t have to give up Deron Williams or MarShon Brooks. New Hawks GM Danny Ferry obviously has his sights set on the future in terms of cap space.

The deal had once been contingent upon Deron Williams agreeing to stay with the Nets, but that is no longer the case. Sources close to the process said Monday that the Nets have changed their stance and are preparing to go through with the trade whether or not Williams commits to Brooklyn.

The Hawks, according to sources, would get Anthony Morrow, Jordan Farmar, Jordan Williams, Johan Petro, DeShawn Stevenson (via sign-and-trade) and the Rockets’ 2013 lottery protected first round pick.

  1. If Joe Johnson effectively takes the NETS out of the Dwight Howard sweepstakes, as I’ve read. And if, the reason BK pulled out was because Dwight stepped on their toes by not opting out in March. This is garbage to me. Doesn’t seem enough to keep Deron Williams so effectively, Johnson= no Williams, and no Howard. WTF?

    • Yeah, this could blow up in their face.
