McNabb Doesn’t Think Peyton is a Good Fit For the Redskins

Once revered as one of the best QBs in the league, it looks like McNabb’s run is over. I have always stated that he is by far the most disrespected superstar in the history of sports. His toughness and patience were questioned by T.O., his talent was questioned by Rush Limbaugh and his “blackness” was questioned by Bernard Hopkins (to name a few). Not to mention that the Eagles were about to ship him to Oakland (Siberia of the NFL back then) before he went to division rival Washington. Then of course, Mike Shanahan disrespected him some more before he was ultimately benched on national TV in Minnesota for rookie Christian Ponder. Got all that? McNabb has never been fully appreciated and now I’m sure people think it’s sour grapes that he doesn’t think Peyton will fit in Washington. But it’s probably true that Peyton won’t fit, since he’s older than Offensive Coordinator, Kyle Shanahan. AOL Sporting News has his direct quote…

“Peyton’s not going to go there,” said McNabb on ESPN 980’s John Thompson Show, via the Washington Post. “You’re bringing in another veteran who will be 35, 36, who has been in one offense throughout his career. It’s the same situation.

“Peyton is such an offensive coordinator on offense. What does that do to your offensive coordinator? Does he begin to change the whole offense according to the play of the quarterback that he has in Peyton Manning? Well, I didn’t see that happen, so I definitely don’t see that happening for Peyton.”
